The images June produces begin life as photographs taken in her own garden with a simple, manual 35mm camera, hand held and using only natural light. These fleeting moments are then digitally processed to take that feeling of immediacy and overlay it with a sense of timelessness as if preserved in amber. June's interest in freezing a passing moment and giving a sense of permanence is further solidified when she takes her images and applies them to marble tiles. The process she uses causes the image to melt into the tile and become part of its surface. The image is then coated with a layer of hard-wearing acrylic. Each image is signed on the back and furnished with a hanger. These tiles are tough and are perfectly at home in a steamy bathroom or greasy kitchen.
